I'm so glad JD is finally gone. Part of me feels bad about feeling this as he's a nerd trying to be as cool and awesome as he thinks he can be, but he's so horribly fake without any self awareness. Maybe a lot of it is the edit: balancing Danny's honesty and Xander's well-placed lie with JD's awful bs story over the extra vote; hyping himself during challenges and showboating only to constantly fail; giving his extra vote to Shan... again. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice..." well, he's voted out so he won't get fooled again.

I'm interested if anything comes of the contrast between Heather not giving up, and DeShawn trying to throw the challenge. Interesting that it wasn't played in a super negative light after Heather's trials and Probst's praise for never quitting. Also another big positive on Naseer at the expense of Danny and DeShawn. First episode was about the HII and showing Naseer as right, this episode they didn't even need to rope Danny into things (especially since it never once looked like he was throwing).

Curious that we got Shan humming again as well.

I'm fine with Voce going early but I think it was a bad move on Evvie's part.

Xavier won BB to the shock of absolutely no one. Overall it was an okay season of BB with a cast that was mostly alright, but I ended up hating a few people that really surprised the shit out of me because I liked them early on.

Agreed. That confessional about Xander's idol is foreshadowing Evvie's game later getting upended by it. Same thing for the edit being clear for Tiffany going home this episode; it's just boosting Xander up as a future threat and the downfall of Evvie/Liana's alliance.

After two episodes, I think Naseer's gotten the best edit so far: we got extended confirmation he was telling his tribe the truth about the idol hunt and he was in danger of going home until they won immunity, and next episode he's an indispensable member of the tribe.

Not gonna lie, I thought for sure Tiffany was going. The normal editing cues were there. So good job editors, I guess. Overall the episode was pretty ho-hum. I did get a kick out of Jeff's unintentional Mike Holloway impression post-challenge.

All the focus has been on the grueling grind this truncated season is gonna be on the contestants, but Jeff already feeling the effects of the hardest season of Survivor. Hexs gotta KEEP DIGGING!

There was a lot of fourth wall breakage. Not just Jeff speaking to the folks at home repeatedly, but also a number of quick shots of the camera crew. Interesting choices being made that I'm not against at this point in the run.

Like, it's a subtle visual reminder that despite being given no food and bare minimum of supplies and a faster grind to the finish, there's still a support system watching over they're well-being outside of the game's structure. It's like a bit of a comforting blanket for anyone watching with a pandemic or more paranoid mindset that this is a game and these people are okay and want to be there, and it's about putting on a show for the viewers.

The first episode feels like a thank you letter and a promise to do the best job they can. As soon as we get back to a tighter one hour format, it's back to business.

On a side note, does Brad remind anyone else of Fourth Doctor Tom Baker?

In the beginning of Cena/Roman, now. All Cena's 1-2-3s are clownish. Then I thought... man, how great would it be if there was a Legends night on the Road to WrestleMania with a Doink in full costume and character who drops the champion towards the end of show and it turns out to be Cena or some other retyrn.

Personally thought it was excellent and loved some of the style choices. It kind of sucks because this is the emptiest I've seen the theater in some time (though that may just be Delta) and four of the six people in one of our shows walked out before the halfway point. One of the couples had been talking at length with a coworker about jow much she liked the first one.

Just... a very confusing experience surrounding the movie for me.

And I wish we got a bit more from Team A, particularly Flula Borg's Javelin. What did he do? Why was he here?

I'm playing Yakuza 0 at the moment and so far it fits this. I bought it for $5 thinking even if I didn't like it I wasn't out much, and I've spent a good 15-20 hours so far in the first two chapters just going around doing random shit and barely progressing the actual story.

I wouldn't yet put it on this list, but I've done the same completely. I think I have about thirty hours and only on chapter 4.

This is the thing. The movie is extremely generic by Western standards, and the only really memorable aspect of it is the overbearing, high-pitched little bastard child. So naturally, that shit torpedoed my enjoyment of the film as a whole.

Minish Cap is definitely conceptually wonderful, and can be very very fun. I just don't know why I get so annoyed playing it after a little bit.

I think the biggest obstacle is just how... obtuse? navigating the world is? There's just a lot of places that want to connect but don't until later items or fused medallions, and I always get stuck trying to get to the later dungeons.

But very cute characters, fun items, great bosses, Ezlo's cool, the colors... nostalgia-spren
